Top 5 Blizzard Cup Games

MLG Network News:

By Galen Andress

The Blizzard Cup Finals are just around the corner, and there was no shortage of amazing games leading up to them. Ten of the most accomplished players from 2011 were invited, and battled it out for the chance at a $33,000+ first place prize. MMA and DRG will conclude the tournament in what's sure to be an epic Final tomorrow morning at 4:10 AM EST, but in the meantime, get your Starcraft 2 fix with the five best games from the tournament so far.

5. MVP vs. MMA – Semifinals Game 1
MMA was able to get a clean sweep of the Game Genie Terran in the Semifinals. Watch his excellent decision-making all game long in this first game of their Semifinals series, as he punishes every mistake MVP makes to the fullest.

4. MC vs. DRG – Semifinals Game 1
Although DRG is known as somewhat of a ZvT specialist, his ZvP is nothing less than stellar most of the time as well. Check out this game, and watch as DRG completely picks apart one of the best Protosses in the world with perfectly timed attacks and ruthless multitasking.

3. Stephano vs. DRG – Group A Match 5
One of two non-Korean hopefuls in the tournament, Stephano was invited for his amazing win at IPL3. In his match against DRG, Stephano showed flawless defense against DRG's one-base aggression. DRG is a player known for his early Ling/Bane micro in ZvZ, and Stephano was able to shut it down convincingly.

2. Leenock vs. Naniwa – Group B Match 2
Yeah, we all know what happened a few hours later. But before Naniwa became infamous for his Probe rush he played an extremely hard-fought ZvP in a rematch of the Providence Finals. Watch as Leenock does everything can to shut down Naniwa's economy and barely survives a terrifying push with a Mothership.

1. MMA vs. Nestea – Group B Match 1
MMA is actually just so freakin' good. It's scary. He dismantled MVP in the Semifinals, and came out on top of a group that included Polt, Nestea, Naniwa and Leenock. His first game from group play against Nestea was about as perfectly played as a TvZ can get. Watch as MMA survives the onslaught of fully upgraded Zerglings, Banelings, Ultralisks, Brood Lords and Infestors to take a win off of one of the best Zergs in the world.
